Oolagen’s live-in program offers a structured, therapeutic, welcoming, home-like environment for youth aged 14 to 18 to develop new resources, responsibilities and constructive relationships. Families are encouraged to participate.
Richard Kalesky House (“RK House”) is conveniently located in a central downtown Toronto neighbourhood, close to transit, schools and services. Oolagen’s residential treatment program is offered at no cost to youth or their families. If needed, psychiatric services are also available.
The residence houses seven co-ed adolescents. Operating under the Narrative Therapy model, RK House focuses on group participation and strives to instill the values of respect, equality and community. Eight highly trained, full time staff members work with residents to help them set goals and develop sustainable life strategies to address and overcome their challenges.
Our principles are built on the foundation of partnership and voluntary participation. We believe young people arrive at RK House ready to take an active role in creating their own futures.
Each youth is assigned an individual and/or family therapist and encouraged to participate in regular counselling sessions.
The first step in our assessment process is offering youth and families a tour of RK House. Those considering residence are then interviewed by an assessment team that includes assigned therapists, the RK House Supervisor and the assigned Child and Youth worker. We receive referrals from Centralized Access to Residential Services (CARS). If you have questions about RK House and our services, feel free to call 416 395 0660 and speak with our Residential Intake Worker.
At RK House, we are committed to offering and promoting a safe and respectful environment for our residents, staff, neighbourhood and surrounding community.
